It was a pretty good weekend for steak pictures, on account of it being Memorial Day here in the states, which is when we celebrate the fallen who have defended our country’s honor and sovereignty, by cooking meat on fire and getting completely tossed on coolers full of cheap beer.

Oh and frisbee. There’s usually some frisbee, too.

I think I want to make this a feature. There’s so dang much great photography in flickr, lots of it food-tography, much of that Steak-tography.
I’ll try to set me up some reminders to go there and rustle up the best pictures of steak I find. Every week or so. Probably Friday.
Dangit! Now it’s not even lunchtime and my steak hankerin is off the hook!

Because it’s a classic.

Victoria Reynolds paints pictures of meat from Dethroner.

Dethroner is one of my favorite sites, because they have balls.

And sensitivity. They have that too.

I’m not sure about Victoria Reynolds’s paintings of meat. They’re kind of gross. Maybe that’s the point? Anyway, not so much really about steak, as about meat in general. Just don’t think about these pictures too much, or you might stop wanting to eat flesh.

Armida Cooks!: Dry-Rubbed Skirt Steak

This looks terrific! She’s done a nice photograph of the steak, and I think this might induce me to try a Batali recipe too. The dry rub (that always sounds a tad suggestive to me!) is made with ground porcini mushrooms! Yowza!

Now to find a skirt steak for sale in this dumb burgh.

psst. I have a question for you, it’s not right for the bride-to-be to put limits on what kind of fun stuff I can do for the wedding+reception is it? Like: “Top hat or meat cake. but not both!” I mean, yeah yeah. It’s her special day and all that claptrap. But, it’s fricken my special day too, right? I can put Judas Priest in the after-dinner playlist, right??

I’ve been working out a bit, in the morning, before heading off to work. They say you should “bracket” your work out with protein, and of course, since it’s the morning and I’m in a rush, I usally chug a protein shake of some sort, maybe munch some almonds.

What I wish was that I had about seventeen extra minutes to hammer down one of these babies, with maybe an egg on the side and some rye toast. That’s protein!
